One of the most significant industry events last year was the dispute between Strava and Garmin. In October 2025, Strava formally filed a lawsuit against industry leader Garmin, accusing it of violating their cooperation agreement and copying Strava’s core patented technologies, including Segments, Heatmaps, and route recommendation features. At the same time, Garmin updated its API policies, imposing stricter limitations on how third-party platforms can use and display data. This indirectly affected Strava’s data synchronization and user experience.
These developments triggered strong reactions from users and highlighted an increasingly intense battle over data control, feature innovation, and ownership of the user experience. As a company whose core business is hardware sales, we closely follow how leading platforms and brands cooperate—and compete—with each other.
As a team that has long focused on GPS cycling computers as our core product, hardware has always been our foundation. Our APP exists to serve and enhance that hardware. However, today, providing users with stable, professional software and community experiences has become just as important as the hardware itself.
We have consistently invested in building a strong ecosystem around Navihood’s APP–device–server–platform integration, including seamless interaction with platforms such as Strava. Our goal is to create a high-quality, free bridge between hardware and major platforms, enabling Navihood users to easily connect, sync, and share their rides anytime, anywhere.
1. Data Upload, Viewing & Device Initialization
The Navihood APP is the central platform connecting all Navihood cycling computers, sensors, smart radar systems, and smart rear lights. All data uploads, device initialization, and product settings are managed through the APP and securely stored on our servers for easy access at any time—ensuring a smooth, stable, and comfortable user experience.
In 2025, we also migrated all Navihood bike light configurations into the APP, allowing users to control and customize their smart tail lights in a more intuitive and engaging way. This empowers creativity and lays the foundation for more integrated smart hardware solutions in the future.
2. Navihood Community
We are actively building a global Navihood user community, where riders can easily share their cycling experiences. This creates a more direct, enjoyable, and meaningful interaction space, allowing users to connect through shared interests within the Navihood ecosystem.
3. Route Planning
Our L1, L2, and upcoming advanced cycling computers all support route navigation, fully optimized for Navihood’s navigation-focused devices. Since 2017, we have maintained long-term partnerships with leading global map providers from Europe, such as Komoot, to ensure accurate and reliable routing.
4. Instantly Turn Your Phone into a GPS Cycling Computer
Through the training section of the Navihood APP, users can instantly turn their smartphone into a basic GPS cycling computer with 49 data fields, suitable for both indoor and outdoor training. This includes speed, distance, calories, heart rate, and power data (with compatible sensors).
Just like our hardware devices, all data supports 3D visualization and community sharing, providing a complete training experience even without a physical cycling computer.
5. Race Route Upload & Sharing
Many competitive cycling events in China—such as Mobike-style rides and Tour of Guangdong routes—can be uploaded in advance to the Navihood APP. Riders can download and share these routes easily, whether they are using Navihood cycling computers or devices from other brands.
6. A Seamless Bridge to Major Platforms
As a hardware company, we believe that a high-quality APP is not optional—it is essential. The Navihood APP supports seamless synchronization with major platforms including Strava, Komoot, TrainingPeaks, Google Fit, and Apple Health.
It also integrates directly with social platforms such as Xiaohongshu, Douyin, and the Navihood Strava Community, allowing user data to flow effortlessly into mainstream fitness ecosystems.
